Our History

Since Leslie and Godwin first established their financial partnership in 1885, our firm has seen many changes in its 140 year history. From 2005 we have been owned by Aegon UK, part of Aegon Limited, one of the world’s largest financial services groups.

Today, Origen Financial Services is one of the UK’s leading financial advice firms, helping generations of people achieve their financial goals. Some clients have been with us for decades, trusting us to help build their financial futures and supporting them as their life unfolds.

In February 2024, Nationwide Building Society’s financial planning service moved to Aegon Financial Planning, which is a trading name of Origen Financial Services Limited.

Our Leadership Team

We have a Board of well-respected industry figures, who have wide-ranging expertise and many years of experience. Their role is to ensure that our company meets its obligations to clients, its responsibilities to employees and complies with all legislative and regulatory requirements.

Executive Directors

Tim Orton

Tim’s experience in managing businesses and safeguarding customers’ financial futures. He has extensive Board and Executive experience, building and running investment platforms and mutual fund companies and, most recently as Chief Investment Officer overseeing Aegon’s £200 billion investment estate. Tim is married with three daughters and three young grandchildren and still enjoys being immersed in family life, occasionally escaping to enjoy his garden or travelling to experience the diverse people and places the world has to offer.

Alec Ramsey

Director of Risk and Compliance
Alec has over 25 years experience within compliance and risk teams. Alec provides expertise in structuring and delivering risk controlled, supportive functions across the business. Away from work, Alec likes to spend time running and has a personal aim of completing the six world major marathons.

Michelle Davis

Director of Finance
Michelle has over 15 years of experience in Finance in the financial services sector. Her experience has been gained with Origen and she therefore has an extensive knowledge of the company, its history and the culture. Michelle is married and has three children. They enjoy winter family holidays and road trips in their classic VW campervan.

Mike Morris

Director, Proposition and Marketing
Before joining Origen in 2012, Mike has worked in a range of sales, advisory and technical roles with insurance companies and adviser firms. Mike is driven by making high quality financial planning available to the widest possible audience. Outside of work and family, his interests include running, music, travel and golf.
Non Executive Directors

Howard Evans

Howard joined Origen in 2010 as a Non-Executive Director and became Non-Executive Chairman in 2015. Graduating from Nottingham University with a 1st Class Honours degree in Mathematics with statistics, Howard started his career by qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and was made a partner in 1984. He became a Senior Audit Partner, National Audit Staff Partner and a member of the UK ABS Executive before joining Courtaulds as their Finance Director in 1994. Since 2008 Howard has held a number of Non Executive roles in different organisations including the UK Accounting Standards Board, AEGON Distribution Companies and as a Non Executive Member of the Audit Committee at GCHQ. Married with four daughters, Howard’s interests outside of work include family life, sailing, golf and keeping fit.

Duncan Jarrett

Non Executive Director
Duncan joined Origen as a Non Executive Director in February 2017. Duncan has over ten years of experience in executive positions within a financial service career that has spanned over 30 years. He is a specialist on distribution within the sector having worked in pensions, investment, platforms and protection. He has also held non executive positions in distribution and been a key note speaker at Industry events. Duncan is married with three sons and lives in Kent. In his spare time he follows his sons’ sporting exploits and restores classic cars.

Andy Manson

Non Executive Director
Andy joined Origen as a Non Executive Director in January 2024. He is currently Aegon’s Chief Marketing Officer and has over 25 years experience in the industry built up there and previously at KPMG and Standard Life. Andy is also CEO of Pension Geeks and a member of the Aegon Independent Governance Committee. Andy is married with 2 children and evidences his eternal optimism by following the Scottish national football team.

John Boyle

Non Executive Director
John joined Origen as a Non Executive Director in January 2024. John is a Chartered Management Accountant and has over 25 years’ experience as a Finance Executive working predominantly in the Banking, Insurance and Legal industries. He is currently the Commercial Finance Director at Aegon UK as well as being a Non-Executive Director at FourSquare Homeless Charity. John is married with one son and lives in Edinburgh. In his spare time, John is an active sports enthusiast, with particular interest in football, running and golf.

Giving Back

As well as helping our clients towards a brighter financial future, we aim to give something back to our local communities. We provide sponsorship to local children’s sports teams and youth groups across the UK, as well as make charitable donations to local projects. Many of our employees also hold voluntary community positions.
